Tate Modern

June 2016

I attended the Member’s preview of the new Tate Modern this month. The building designed by the original Tate Modern architects Herzog & de Meuron is stupendous.

A succession of lifts centre the building taking you from ’The Tanks’ in the basement through nine gallery levels up to the viewing deck on level 10 with stunning 360-degree views across the city.

Tate says “The façade uses brick to match the surface of the existing museum, while creating something radically new – a perforated brick lattice through which the interior lights glow in the evening. The interior of the new building features raw concrete folded into dramatic angles and will be a stunning new building in which to experience art. “

Spot the clay bird in pic 3 anyone?
